Ying Jin is Professor of Architecture and Urbanism at University of Cambridge. His research deploys data science including AI as digital labs to investigate and measure urban change, to predict social, economic and environmental effects of policy interventions, and mitigate potentially harmful scenarios. His research has been widely used in actual urban and rural policy, planning and design work in the UK, the EU, South America and China. For many years he was Head of the Martin Centre of Architectural and Urban Studies at Cambridge. He is now a Commissioner of the UK2070 Commission, of the Independent Transport Commission of the UK, and of the International Society of Urban Informatics, devoting his time to developing fresh data science tools in response to radically different prospects of the world's city regions.
